Infant seats

OK so, we have to get a new infant seat since we're expecting again. Our safeseat and 1 base were crashed by our DCP a few months ago. Since DD was nearly 2 we replaced it with a Truefit (she could still fit in it now at 28 months by both height and weight) . I have another SafeSeat base and the covers from the SS1, can the base be used on the SR 32/35 up to the 30lbs that the SS1 allowed? I seem to remember there was some discussion about this a while back with some conflicting info from Graco.Although I'm not even sure this is a realistic option for the back of my Forte.......

What other seats should we look at? I already ruled out Evenflo because of the handle down & 1.5" of clearance issue, I know not to get a SR22 with rear adjusts... How's the BT Flexloc?

We may end up borrowing a friend's Keyfit, but I'd really prefer our own seat. I am not even sure it's worth it to buy a high weight seat since DD is so petite.

Well, the rule is that if you buy a non-HW seat, your next child will be huge. :p LOL

Seriously though, it's totally up to you. I don't really know what the position is on using SS1 bases/covers with SR32+ seats, though I *thought* they were essentially the same seat. But I could be wrong.

You could sell the SS1 stuff and put the money towards the new seat. I don't really know all that much about infant seats aside from the Gracos, which I really like. The Britax Chaperone is quite popular, and I think the KF is as well (and in the US you have the 30lb version).

The BT flex loc needs the handle down too. I just went to BRU and in my vehicle that wasn't a problem. It fit better than a keyfit and a snugride even with the handle thing. I guess it depends on how long you want to use an infant seat. Did you like having one for 2 years or are you ok with it being outgrown before 1 year and switching to a convertable then? I use convertables from birth before but some people like being able to take the seat out for naps and what not.

Do you need the 1 1/2 " of clearance on the flex loc?

I didn't anticipate being able to use the SS1 for 2 years at all LOL. We stopped using it as a "carrier" seat when DD was about a year, it got left in the car. If I can get 6 months out of a carrier I"ll be happy, that will bring us to the nicer weather.

Can you do handle up on the SR 22 also?

Thanks guys :)

according to the Graco website you can inter-change the SS1 and the SR32 bases BUT the SG35 can't be used with any seat but the SR35 and you can't use the SR35 with anyother base  I hope that makes sense lol

I thought they were all interchange able as long as the weight guide lines were followed...if anyone finds out teh website is wrong PLEASE let me know ;)
