recline captains chair to gain rf legroom?

I know I've seen it suggested before to recline a captain's chair a click or two to gain a little legroom for a rf install. DD2 is getting really scrunched in her MA. I'd like to try to get her a little more legroom so we can rf as long as possible, as a new seat is out of the question due to finances. She is 26 months, 34", 28 lbs. She is due for a big growth spurt though.

The car in question is a 2000 Windstar. I saw a generic blurb in the owner's manual about the seat back being upright for installing car seats, but I wasn't sure how strict that was and if it made any difference that the MA is tethered rf. If anyone has the answer it would make my day! (I'd offer to hug you, but you can see the problem with that. I could hug my monitor? :D ) Thanks!

Ok, that's what I was wondering. I know sometimes the manufacturer has a really good reason for not allowing something, and sometimes it's just because they personally haven't tested it that way. I was wondering which one this was. I figured that if the captain's chair was built to have an adult rebounding into it, it should be ok, especially since they don't disallow an adult to ride in the seat reclined a click or two. Since the MA is tethered rf, I'm ok with it. ;)

DD1 rides in the third row but she can sit behind the other captain's chair that ds is riding in. They used to share the third row, both outboard, but lately it's a much happier ride for all if they are not seated in the same row.

I'm guessing since you asked if anyone is riding in the third row, that it would be best if no one was seated behind the MA?

Oh and I almost forgot, thanks so much for the reply!
