? bad seat?

I can't remember what they are called --- but the seats that have the hard plastic U shaped piece that raises and lowers down in front of the seat ..... I thought they were all no good and/or recalled .. am I wrong? My church is having a yard sale and they had one .. I told them they shouldn't be selling it because it can damage the abdomen in an accident. It took some convincing, but they put it in the trash pile. But I did look before they took it and it doesn't expire until 2011, so it wasn't that old of a seat ... has me wondering if I was wrong? I don't see that style being sold anymore though.

Overhead shield seats (OHS) were manufactured (in very limited quantities) through 2009. I do believe they have all been discontinued at this juncture, but I may be wrong :)

Because many Dorel 3-in-1s have 8 year expirations, we could easily see 'legal' OHS seats through 2017.

The ohs seats haven't been recalled. Thought not the best choice, if not expired, then they can legally be used. I think it is a bad idea to sell car seats at a large yard sale where the original owner isn't around to provide info anyway so that the buyer knows the seat hasn't been in an accident.
