Solutions for Older Kids

1) 12 yo, 88 lbs, 5'3" autism. I can*not* get him to sit right in the car. He submarines constantly, even in an Olli Clek. It's better in the Clek, but lately he's been trying to sit w/o the Clek and it's not pretty. I turned around a few days ago when I was at a stop light, and he was slouched all the way down, with the lap belt across his midsection.

2) 9 yo, 78 lbs, not sure of height. He's in a Monterey. More often than not, he's putting his head outside the wings. He's also in the spectrum, but not as prominent as his brother mentioned above. I'm wondering if I need a different seat - he simply is not getting, even though he's been reminded many times, that he cannot do this.

I'll take suggestions and thoughts for either issue. Thanks!

1. How about a backless Parkway SG, using the SG clip, for the 12 year old?

2. 86-Y with the booster, for the 9 year old?

1) Are there limits on the SG attachment for the PWSG? Could you get one and use the LBB portion with the SG for him?

2) Do you mean he is leaning out to see around the wings? If you can't solve this problem through reminders etc because he isn't able to help himself then maybe you do need a seat with less obstructive wings. Would it help to lock the seatbelt for a while as a reminder (if you can)?

ETA I type too slowly!

Yes, he is leaning his head out, and then leaning back onto the wings. He does this so he can a) see how fast I am going @@ b) see how many cars are in front of us c) talk to his little brother (who sits next to him in a Safeguard) or d) whatever the reason of the moment is.

Duh. I hadn't thought to lock the belt.

Okay - Parkway is not deep enough, it's uncomfortable. I've got him in his little brother's Monterey right now. He is NOT happy about it, but the belt stays in place. Does the PWSG have the same measurements as the regular PW?

I borrowed a Parkway from TXAggie, and I put 9 yo in that. I don't think this is a long term solution, though.

I need to decide what to do.

I can see that it looks a little deeper and it seems to offer a little more leg support.

Another (albeit insanely expensive) option would be the old Frontier in booster mode with the SG clip ordered separately from Britax :twocents:

That's something to ponder, anyway. It goes to what - 65"? Or is the booster height for the 85 different than the old style?

I'm going over to TXAggie's house to try a Radian next to a PW in the back row of my (2004) Suburban.
