phew! she's still my junior car seat geek

DD1 and DD2 are on different schedules (early and late bird reading times) so I share dropoff/pickup with my neighbor who has a 4th grader (early drop off/late pick up). Neighbor has my FPSV's but has been suggesting recently that DD's don't need boosters in her car (2009 Honda Pilot) b/c she can adjust the shoulder belts lower (I emailed her Kecia's 5-step test carseatblog entry to explain how I was deciding when to stop using the boosters although I'm not sure if she read it).
So yesterday DD2 got a ride home from her and tried riding without the booster for the first time. Her verdict? "Mom, I didn't like how the lap belt was too high on my tummy". (I gave her a big hug and complimented her for being smart about safety - and if I had a spare $100 around I would have rewarded her with a Clek Olli;))
So this morning I sent her off with her FPSV backless and told neighbor that it's DD2's request because she's not comfortable without it.

that neighbor should never go against your wishes when transporting your children. Period. It is your child and not hers!

Good for her. You can also let neighbor know that if she transports your children without boosters and the belts DON'T fit properly, she's in violation of the state seatbelt law, and if she gets pulled over by a cop who happens to check their belt fit could get a ticket.
