$150.00 Anchor in a 93 Geo Metro

Our car repair place is something like $60/hr and min 1 hr labor. Oh plus a $90 diagnosis fee even if you decide not to get it fixed there. (and no if you get it fixed, it is not absorbed into the price)

I finally remembered to snag my LATCH manual from DHs car.

The Geo brand was make by Toyota for GM, and the pre-welded nut is the exact same one used in all Toyotas. Toyota uses the same part across the board. (here in the US the cost is a $5 donation to SafetyBeltSafe)

 Hmm, perhaps you're thinking of the Geo Prizm model, which was built through the Toyota-GM NUMMI joint venture and comparable to the Toyota Corolla? Unofficially, there is no tether anchor retrofit available for the Prizm, but using a Toyota tether anchor retrofit part is an unofficial "off label" retrofit for a Prizm. The Geo Metro isn't a Toyota-GM NUMMI joint venture model, though - the Metro was built by Suzuki for GM. Wouldn't it be a Suzuki or GM tether anchor part rather than a Toyota part for retrofitting the Geo Metro? The Suzuki model that was comparable to the Metro was the Suzuki Swift, IIRC, but I don't see a listing for a '93 Swift in the LATCH manual. FWIW, there is a listing for the '95-99 Suzuki Swift 2-door models, which have two weld nuts in the rear filler panel for retrofitting the outboard rear seating positions using tether anchor part numbers 76292-60B10-6WV, 75480-60B00.

The Geo Metro in the US was not retro-fittable. The Canadian spec Metro has 2 weld nuts on the rim of the rear hatch. A friend of mine had a US Metro of that era (early 90s) and went very high up with people at GM to confirm that the US model does NOT have the weld nuts, the Canadian does (she was pondering getting the parts from Canada).

Do you or your friend happen to know if they were GM or Suzuki parts that were available in Canada for the Metro, or an alternate source by any chance?

It was 1999-ish when she was looking into it - my William was still RF at the time (she has a daughter the same age). I honestly don't remember, and I don't talk to her much anymore.
