I think I need a Complete Air

How does the CA compare in width to a MA? Grandma has a smallish back seat, with a RF MA center (99 Escort wagon). It'd be a tight squeeze right now to get anyone else in the back seat, so I hate to put the wider MR there. Radian isn't an option because the front seats need to be all the way back.

Sofi had been weighing 29-31 pounds at home, in clothes and sneakers. Today at the doctor's I weighed her at 32.25 in clothes and (fake) Uggs. She has 5 seats in 5 cars. 4 of her seats have a 35 pound limit. I REALLY want to keep her RF until 4 (6 more months). Will summer clothes really make much difference? I know she can use her seats for 3 more pounds, but I want to be prepared. In the past year she seems to have been packing on the pounds quickly. I think we can get away with 3 seats instead of 5. I already own 2 MRs (24 pound BabyS is currently using one).

Should I sell my EFTA, TFP, TF, MA and buy MR(s) or CA(s)? Even if I wait until she's actually 35 pounds, I want to have a plan ready. Or have I just lost my mind?

The CA seems more narrow than the MA to me, but I've only played with a CA in stores, so I could be wrong.

I think my daughter was probably about the same size as yours (she was 29 pounds at 3 years old, then 34 pounds at 4, then 35 pounds by 4 years and 1 month). So based totally on my own self-absorbed perspective from my own daughter ;), I think your daughter will probably last the next 6 months with the seats she has, particularly with summer clothing.

I think it's good to have a plan in place, but wait until she's at 35 pounds to make another purchase. I personally think I would sell the EFTA and the MA anyway, because I don't like them as FFing seats (I don't like up-on-base seats). I do like my True Fit FFing, but I might consider selling those as well. If she does hit 35 pounds very soon, you could put the money toward a Complete Air, at least for the main vehicle. If she lasts until 4 years old in her seats, I'd look into a Frontier 85 or Nautilus (maybe a Maestro for a lesser used car?). I like that they have the booster mode option that you could at least potentially use one day compared with a convertible that you wouldn't be using RFing anymore.

I have 2 GNs waiting for when she's FF. I will be selling the MA after 35 pounds, I don't want to use it FF. I haven't looked at any of the other convertibles for FF yet, I guess I should. I do want FR for her primary vehicle.

I'm really tempted to buy the CA now since there's such a good deal, but I really should wait for a few more pounds.

I think I should work on getting Grandma's car some tether anchors (she has none).

I think it is narrower. I can compare when I get home in another week (I have the CA here, and the MA is in my van at home for the ride to the airport, so it'd be easy to do, if you can wait until Wednesday of next week!).

The CA was about an inch narrower at the widest part of the back, and still narrower than the MA at the widest part of the seat. Do you think the CA price will go lower ($179 at BRU)? Or will it just sell out of stock and transition to the higher priced version (the newer version coming out)??

If you can pair that price with one of their coupons you'd get a good deal. No idea if they are selling out of the old one in favor of the new, however.

I do have some 20% off coupons, which is the only reason it's catching my eye ;) And I went and installed it with LATCH on the test bench, and it went well. I always remove the covers to get my hands in the belt path, so I hated that with the CA you can't get the cover back on. But uh, I got it super tight w.o removing the cover  I think my MA might be on the chopping block.

My daughter weighed 33# in August (8 months ago) and weighs 35# now. (She is turning 4 later this month.) I would be surprised if your daughter did NOT make it to age 4 in her 35# limit seats. I would keep an eye on the scale and not make any final decisions now.

I spoke with DH tonight. And told him I'm thinking about buying another seat so Sofi can stay RF in my car (her vehicle 95% of the time) past 4  I don't know if I'll be ready to turn her in her primary ride yet, but that she can go FF at 4 in the other cars. His response? "yeah, I want her FF in my car so I can see her. So I can finally talk to her" Umm.... she and I talk ALL the time, RF doesn't stop the mouth ;)

I'm really trying to hold off on the CA. I'm telling myself having the arb of the TFP is good. I will be watching the scale though.

Eeeeee! :D I just started looking at the CA- I'm looking for a back up seat with a higher weight limit (FF not RF ;) ) The CA looks like a nice seat!! I like Safety 1st products- my other back up seat is an Uptown.

I hated the Uptown, lol. Sofi seemed so squished in it, and the adjuster was annoying (even worse in the Avenue). In fact, one reason I've resisted the CA so long is because I'm not a huge Dorel (owner's of Safety 1st) fan  One thing I know I don't like about the CA, is the cover on the headrest can't be removed to wash. If the My Ride would fit where I want DD to sit, she'd be in that. But, it's to wide. I must say, the CA is starting to grow on me ;)

Haha- anything is nicer than the Car-go's crappy adjuster! I've always been okay with the one on the Uptown. It is a little cozy, but my kids are pretty narrow, so they fit okay. I'm no big Dorel fan either, funny about that, but the price was right for a nicer-but-not-too-expensive back up seat. The big chest buckle is not my favorite.

The MR it too wide for any of our rigs, specially when we're puzzling seats. ;) The CA seems so cool.

Can I ask where you found coupons? :)

I got a coupon in the mail (3/26- 4/8), I'm guessing because I'm registered with their Rewards program. But when I bought a few things there the other day, I also got a booklet of coupons (2 for 20% off, 4/16-22 and 4/9-15).

I like my CA for ff :) DD2 has been using the CA ff in my minivan and she really likes it. I also am a little weary of Dorel but I do like the install, fit and comfort of the CA so far
