Booster vd. 5 point

I am looking for a new seat for my daughter (4 1/2, 40lbs. 43 in). I was going to get the new Bodyguard. However, after 4 1/2 years in a 5 point harness, I am a little nervous about putting her in just the booster. I am now thinking about the Marathon. Is the 5 point harness always safer? What then are the advantages to the boosters? Portability?

well, 5 pt harnesses are safer for everyone. :)

booster advantages would be price, convenience (children can buckle themselves but should always be supervised that they do it correctly)...

4.5 years would generally be considered old enough to have the maturity to stay positioned correctly in a booster. my dd recently hit 40 lbs at 3.5 yrs and i didn't think she had the maturity so i bought her a husky. so she will be harnessed until 80 or close to that if she gets too tall by then.

it is a hard jump to make, going from 5 pt to booster.

Have you tried DD in a Marathon. My DD is also 4.5, but 35 lbs and 42 inches. She has been in the Marathon since last November and loves it.

That said, she is in the top slots, so I doubt she will get past 45 inches still in this seat. Now, that is almost a whole year of growth for us, but you might want to check your DD in it--- depending on her proportions, she might even be at or near the top slots now, or she could have as much space as my DD or even a bit more. How DD is sitting does affect it a lot, and she is *just* tall enough to be in the top slots.

Another option is the Britax Husky, but it is a much larger seat!

Good luck!
