What kind of cargo divider, 2000 4runner?

Hi,

Dh drives a 2000 4Runner and we need to get one of those cargo dividers for his vehicle, since he often has things in the back (random tools, cooler, whatever). There are so many different kinds - nets, fences, pet, etc... Are there any recommendations out there for one that provides a suitable safety barrier for the passengers (especially kids) but is easy to install/remove as he semi-frequently removes the car-seats and folds everything down to carry a large load?

It's kinda hard to give specific advice, since most of us use alternatives to cargo dividers. Anything you can get easily and fairly cheaply, like pet dividers, are going to be pressure mounted, which is not going to hold in a crash. You need something which will have to be bolted to the vehicle, which most likely will not be easy to take off and on frequently. I haven't looked in a few years, but the best place to get a divider that had a reasonable expectation of not breaking in a crash was from chief supply and other similiar companies that make vehicle partitions for police, taxi, and cargo van use.

You could also check to see if Toyota has anything specifically made for the 4 -Runner.

I too carry a lot a various stuff in my SUV. I have just gotten in the habit of making sure I strap everything down with good quality cargo straps.

What kind of cargo divider, 2000 4runner?
