Intera as a booster?

So I was not so thrilled about having to use the Intera as a booster yesterday but it was that or an expired backless TB for my 37lb. 5yo. I like that it adjusts WAY high but has anyone ever used one as a booster? I was totally shocked at the fit. The shoulder belt fit perfectly, middle of the shoulder, touching her chest. The lap belt was, well, exactly the middle of her belly. Not anywhere near her hips! I guess if I'm going to be stuck at my parent's house or ever plan to leave her there, I need to leave my HBTB for her. She rides in a Nautilus for now in my car but will soon move to a TB full-time (little siblings are all moving up soon). My Mom did go buy a new backless booster last night to keep at her house for the older kids to use (the Harmony, looks like it's going to fit great, belt guides are so low, there's no way the belt could go up to the belly at all).
Also, when looking at the Intera, it was manufactured in 2005 but says it does not expire until 2013. Is this seat one of those rare seats with an 8 year expiration? That would be great for us, it's a spare at grandma's that has come in very handy many times for a variety of size/age grandkids.

i hear ya on the intera in booster mode. not very good but heck its better than nothing. because i disliked it so much in booster mode i tossed one away & then the other was involved in an accident (using it RFing at the time). i don't remember the lifespan on it. glad your mom bought a new backless for any just in case times & keeping th eintera as a harnessed seat isn't too shabby either. good to have safe seats around whenever needed

Many Dorel 3 in 1s have eight year lifespans.

It's not a great booster. But it's better than expired, or an outgrown seat, or nothing at all.

the seat does have an 8yr lifespan... as it is an all-in-one

but the belt fit is definitely atrocious on kids... much to our disappointment as, before the Evenflo symphony, this was the closest thing we'd gotten to what LOOKED like (before anyone tried it as a booster) a good 3-in-1 seat.

I woudl not use a backless booster for a 5yr old... especially one that small.

I would pick up an inexpensive highback booster for a spare seat.

I would use the intera for harnessed kids only... and it is a great seat for rf and has decent top slots for up to 40lbs ff.
