Using European seats in the US

I know that it's technically illegal, but I'm 99% sure that if I get pulled over by the cops here in TN there's not going to be an issue over carseats. They'll just be glad that the kids are in carseats! LOL

So other than the legal "issues" surrounding European carseat use in the US, is there anything that doesn't match up between a European HBB seat with Isofix and most recent year US cars? Is there something I'm missing here?

I think the big issue is if you get in a wreck, and your kiddo is injured, you could have issues with your insurance paying claims since you were using an illegal seat. But I'm not sure how much they look at stuff like that.
