Great seat check saturday!

Our local SafeKids program is try to start monthly checks. Last month they (I could not make it) checked 3 seats in 2 cars, over 4 hours:(. We were kind of expecting the same turn out this time - but we checked 14 seats in 4 hours, with only 3 techs! It was crazy busy:thumbsup: We had mostly expectant parents, which is unusual for us (we usually get maybe 1 or 2 a check) and only 1 kinda crazy person:rolleyes: We got to see the flippy/foldy Tacoma back seat, handed out 5 freebie seats, and had 3 seat surrenders, including an ANCIENT overhead shield (that was super gross and had no stickers or anything, but the harness straps had a tag from 96, and a Britax Galaxy with a 02 DOM (cool seat and grandma did NOT want to give it up)

Not too crazy LOL. She was just a mom, who was several bricks shy of a full load. She showed up with a 3year old in a Costco to harness booster (OK install, but big flully coat and loose straps, with a belly clip - nothing too unusual) and a little 2mo old (11 lbs) that she was sure was out growing his snugride and wanted to put him in an ANCIENT overhead shield 3 pt. Once we got the huge strap covers, AF head restraint, and bundle me out, he was fine and had lots of room, but she was totally not convinced. Had to repeat everything 10 times to her, plus she had a story to go with everything :D The three year old kept running away (we were in the parking lot of hte police station, then got her in the car and she was honking horn, climbing all over, etc. Finally got baby in one of our program seats (after we told mom baby was fine in the bucket - she said it was from a friend of a friend of a friend - not really sure if this was true or she just wanted a new seat). Got it all installed, and she did not like how buckle pushed on baby's tummy and wanted something between him and the straps. It just went on and on, if it was a slow check it would not have been as much a PIA, but we were really busy and I spent over an hour with her, and then the head tech came and helped to hustle her along (she is a cop in full uniform, so put off much more authority than me - plus is much more brisk and doesn't put up with my crap :) )

But she came to the check to get help, so I do not fault her, she really was trying :)
