Question about Frontier XT install

I'm installing a Frontier XT in a 2005 Matrix, centre seat (which means shoulder/lap belt because there's no LATCH in that position), harnessed mode. The seatbelt locks at the retractor once you pull it all the way out.

I'm using the long belt path, and while I can *just* get it buckled with some really good pushing and shoving, I can't actually confirm that's it's locked by hearing it click. This is because the seatbelt is pulled out all the way, so I don't have any slack to feed back in and hear it click.

I'm comparing the install to my MA, where the seatbelt goes back into the retractor a fair bit, so I know it's locked because I can hear it click.

Now I know that if the seatbelt fed a couple inches more into the retractor it would click, but I don't know if that's good enough, or if I need to get it in another inch or two to confirm. And that's just not going to happen, unfortunately, because it's in there rock solid.

I cannot get a tight install with the short belt path at all, so that's out of the question.

I'm going to start another thread about getting the install checked locally (I'm in the Delta area of BC.), but I thought I'd ask about this here first. Thanks!

As long as the seat is tightly installed, it's fine. The whole point of locking the belt is to hold the seat tight. Using up all the belt accomplishes the same thing.

LOL. I won't comment on the fondling, but I wanted to say "thanks" again to Nicole for helping me out and checking my seat install. You're awesome!
