Thanks

If your insurance is generally good about things like that, they'll likely pay for it. Some insurance companies will pay for SN car seats automatically. Some you have to fight for it. Others flat out refuse. If they deny you, then appeal. If they flat out refuse even after you appeal, try other services. Each state has different ones to look into. Here in ohio, we have things like the board of DD, BCMH, ect. I think easter seals are pretty much everywhere right?

I know my SIL (pediatric PT w/SN CPS training) has written letters of justification for at least 6 Roosevelts and Tomatoes. In most cases, she's had to write a second (or third) letter, or make some calls. To my knowledge, however, they've all been approved by primary insurance.

Get help from your child's doctors or therapists. Many of these folks have been there, done that, with regards to letters of justification for special needs equipment. (They know all the big words and can use them correctly. :D)

Oh yeah, pics help. Take a pic of her in her seat now (which I assume she's just now outgrowing) to show 1) that she's outgrowing it and 2) she sits nicely in it. Then take a pic of her in a booster (if you have one) or just a seat belt (she IS old enough by state law, even if she's too small) to show that she slumps, doesn't fit correctly, ect. Then make a point about how injuries in a car accident due to insufficient seating would likely cost more than the seat itself. Even a ER trip for minor injuries is going to run the cost of the roosevelt, never mind if she had internal injuries that resulted in surgery and a hospital stay. That can run into 6 figures easily.

I know a lady who is a pro at dealing with ins and she always recommends taking pics of children in their current equipment to show why it's insufficient.
