Britax MA questions

I just purchased a new MA from BRU last week and have installed it
using lap/shoulder belt and tether on the floor (Rear facing). There is hardly any movement at the belt path and it's in there very securely. I have a few questions.

1) Is it normal/acceptable for the seat to tilt a wee bit on one of the sides? The entire seat base is on the car seat and it is in there tight.

2) While driving over bumpy railway tracks I noticed the top part bounced a little. Is this okay?

3) I have checked my seat thoroughly and can't see any red recline angle line. How can I check the angle? I have a 7 month old 16lb baby.

THanks in advance!

1 - Some people are comfortable with this, others not. I think it's unavoidable in certain vehicles, and that really a small tilt is not an issue. Sometimes reinstalling the seat a little more off-side can eliminate the tilt.

2 - There is nothing restraining the seatback itself. You will have motion at the top of the seat, especially when the tether has some slack in it (which is also fine, if you've opted to tether).. You want the seat to be perfectly tight at the beltpath.. this means grabbing the seat at the beltpath and moving it side to side and even a little front-back movement to make sure there's really next to nil motion there. The seatback will always move in a rear-facing seat.

3 - Don't worry about it. Draw an "L" shape with your pointer and thumb. Then move your pointer finger downwards towards your thumb in a clockwise motion until it reaches the midpoint in what was your L. That's where you need to be for a newborn. Once a child is around 8m (or possibly your 7m old) you can install more upright, because airway obstruction isn't as much of a concern as neck control has increased. You will be slightly more upright than that midpoint for your 7m old. Angle indicators are rarely accurate, so it's better just to eyeball it and ensure that you're not over-reclined at all. More upright is great, as long as your baby isn't slumping regularly.
