He still fits.. right? (Added pics!)

Just wondering.. may not ever use it but it would be a good "just in case" type of thing. I just put my son (19 1/2 months) in his infant carrier because he insisted that he sit in it! lol.. well I realized he still has about 2 in. of seat above his head left. It's a Graco Safeseat and goes from 30 lbs. and 32 in. He's 25-26 lbs. and 34 in. but he's only grown in his legs this last year. The top slots are right at his shoulder. We stopped using the seat when he was 8 months because he was VERY chubby and getting him in it was a pain.. I didn't have a problem getting him in it today because his waist has slimmed A LOT lol. So is the considered still fitting and still safe to use?

I'll add pics in a bit if you need, he's taking a nap right now.

Here's the pics I just took of him in it.. what do you guys think?

Yes, it's fine as long as he still has at least one inch of shell above his head. Here's a thread with great pictures on how to measure - http://car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=30201.

Do you have the harness straps on the longest settings? There are two sets of loops to adjust the length at both the hips and the shoulders.

And it might be a pain to carry a 26 lb baby + carrier, but you can always just leave it in the car. You can also install it a bit more upright than the 45 degrees required for a newborn. He may prefer to be more upright and there's quire a range of acceptable angles on the gauge on the side. :)

Did you lengthen the harness straps? If you flip over the seat there should be a second loop you can adjust to make the harnesses longer at the hips.

As long as he is within the weight limit and has at least 1inch of room above his head, then yes he can still use the SS1 safely!

I'll have to check the straps. I know I have them almost fully losened.. could probably losen them about an inch more. I didn't know that they can change at the waist though.. that would have been helpful last year! I'll have to look at it in a bit.

Oh yeah.. that would be a pain to carry him in! I picked him up in it and put him right back down lol.. way too heavy! We never really carried him in it though.. after about 5-6 months especially because he was 20 pounds and the seat itself isn't light at all! lol
