Just picked this up. Instructions and display card form a 1978 Century trav-l-guard seat. This Is one of the seats that have been eluding me for many years. Three seats in one! Wow!

I think it's ironic how this seat was bragging about not needing a top tether strap ... and now every (?) forward facing seat on the market has them.

That looks familiar, I think it's the one my godmother had for her eldest (born 1979)... so weird with the harness that had to be buckled and the bar that had to be snapped down.

My little brother was born in 1979, and I remember him RF and FF in the same seat and it looked VERY much like that. I remember the vinyl was dark brown. This may have been it!

I cant believe it. I wondered when I'd finally come across the seat I used to ride in as a kid, and thats it!

PS. Vinyl+hot Texas sun= OWWWWWCH!

I know after a couple of kids, the vinyl and foam had all been picked off the bar... my mom did a nifty job wrapping new foam with brown packaging tape before the seat got handed down to yet another kid, but maybe having that plain metal bar sticking out so easily was enough for more people to have tossed their seats rather than save them for the grandbabies? Making them harder to find? Just a guess, of course :D
