Question Initally its a tight install but after a few uses, it loosens up, why?

That sums it up! Evans MR installs very tightly and snugly and then after a few uses the lap belt portion loosesns up to the point where you can actually move it around. If that makes any sense? I hope it does. Anyone else have this problem and what can I do? Evan loves his MR! In case it matters I have a 99 Dodge grand Caravan and his seat is indtalled in a captains chair.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have that problem when I install mine ffing with latch, I did it once and used it that way for a couple of days for Fiona, It was Rock the car tight, and solid, and when I checked it a couple days later I was able to move in a full inch at the belt path!

I have it rear facing with latch in captians chair for Nolan and it is staying tight, ButI have also messed with it every day since I installed it lol so who knows.

Is it a locking latch plate there? If it is, then flip the buckle over and that should keep it tight. If it's a locking retractor, is it slipping? There may be a problem with the retractor and it needs replacing.

That's almost the identical car to my in-laws', and they have locking latch plates. Probably something about the shape of the seat is causing the latch plate to be held at an angle that allows it to loosen, so like jess says, buckle, tighten, then unbuckle and flip the buckle over and re-buckle, that should do it. :)

It could also be the vehicle seat compressing more.

I had a problem with my EFTA loosening in DH's 2000 Durango (lightweight locking latchplates like OP has). I think it even happened after twisting. I added a locking clip and have had no problems.

I have to actually turn my latch plate over 360 to get it to stay tight. I have a 99 Grand Caravan with 2 bench seats. I have 3 car seats in it and all of them require this to keep them tight more than 2 days. I hate the light weight locking latch plates. I am actually going to start using a locking clip on 2 of the seats since I can't use it on the BV.

You meant 180 degrees right?

I can almost guarantee that the problem is your latchplates not cinching the seatbelt the way they should. It's a very common problem with Dodge/Chrysler minivans from these model years (late 90's - early 2000's). Flipping the latchplate 1/2 turn before buckling may solve the problem. If it doesn't, then use a locking clip instead.

my3girls posted a link to a picture showing what the flipped latchplate looks like after it's been buckled HERE.
