TrueFit Recline Question

My son is 7 months old right now. We've recently installed our True Fit in my husbands VW Jetta and are about to install in in my Honda Civic, but I have a question about the recline angle. It seems to be reclined even more than the infant seat was, is this correct?? The line on the seat is parallel to the ground as it states it should be in the manual. Also, how long must it be reclined this far? At any point can we make it more upright?? Thanks in Advance.

You can make it more upright provided your baby has head control. My 5 month old's TFP has been around 35-38 degrees now for about a month. Though she has excellent head control and can sit unassisted.

The line, I've found, overreclines the seat. To the point where Learning Curve has been emailed about it. I found the ball level adjuster to be pretty much as useless.

I'd just eyeball it, and because of the foot not worry too much about going less than 35 degrees. It won't be easy.

You can make it more upright now if he has good head control. The 45 degree angle is only needed for newborns and young babies. The true fit can be installed as upright as 35 degrees but that's probably too upright for a 7 month old so you'll want something in between.

We've had the engineer confirm that 35 degrees is acceptable. Other than Britax, I don't know if manual state more upright is ok. Most just toe the 45 degree line. Also, most seats are ok up to 30 degrees, but the engineers at Learning Curve say 35 for the True Fit, not 30.

In fact, the True Fit Recline and the True Fit Premier have two different angle settings. One for newborns and one more upright for toddlers. Zones one and two.

The Radian manual actually doesn't have a limit as to how upright you can go. It just shows a picture that 45 degrees or more upright is acceptable.

I'd go more by the ball indicator when parked on a level surface. The True Fit does look way over reclined when installed at 45*, but I think that's because the outside back of the seat isn't molded at the same angle as the inside, where the child's back touches.

But like others said, once baby has good heand and neck control the level ball can be on "2".
