What can I salvage on my expired MA?

I have two other MAs so I thought maybe I'd keep the EPS foam and padding just in case. Is that ok? What about the hugs?

Also, to answer your question, all "non-safety" related items are salvageable. So the cover, padding etc. But the HUGS are actually considered a safety feature of the seat, and being plastic I would assume they break down just like the shell itself does. I would even contact Britax to be sure about the EPS foam, as that's safety related as well.

EPS, padding and cover for sure. I'll admit I have two sets of HUGS in a box and I don't know which MA they came from. I'm not that concerned, either.

and just a friendly reminder to keep all swap content to private messages or the appropriate forums. :)

Thanks! I'm glad the EPS foam and padding is ok to keep. You just never know when you may need it- DD picked some of the padding apart on a TF that I used to have.

I'm definitely keeping the cover since I have two other MAs. I replaced the harness long ago because it was dirty, so its still good. I forgot that the adjuster strap was in a recall and it was replaced, so guess I'll check the DOM on that too.

What you said just reminded me that (even with all original pieces) the harness pieces are manufactured separately so could they have different DOMs than the shell? But you go by the DOM of the shell for expiration, right? Is that because the straps DOM are always very similar so it is close enough?

Sorry to hijack your thread. You got me thinking and this is something I had wondered before. Thanks.

The harness has a tag with a DOM on it too, but I imagine most have the same DOM as the shell. I just learned that a year ago when I bought the new harness.

What is annoying is I was checking out my extra harness and some didn't have a tag, I'm guessing they put the date on one piece of the set. That is fine and dandy if you only have one harness set.

It would be possible to get an approximate date on hugs, older ones had little pokey things at the top that kids could eat and newer ones don't.
