Vent Grrrr...New GN has a broken buckle tong, and TF harness is fraying :(

Apparently this isn't my day for carseats :(

I'd noticed that the harness on DS's TF is really starting to fray :( ), so I hauled it out for a closer look. There's small chunks of the harness, not just a few threads fuzzing off, and the webbing has lightened where it folds though the buckle. Now I'm waiting to hear back from LC, because it was worse than I thought, and I want to be sure it's safe (and I'm worried it might get worse with more use), but they can't tell me if it's safe to use in the meantime.

Then when I was buckling DD into the new GN, I discovered that the plastic surrounding the buckle tong is cracked through and through....called Graco, and a new harness is on the way here, and I can't use the seat until it gets here. So one, possible two seats out of commission in one day

If LC says the TF is no good, I'm really hooped, as it leaves me with one harnessed seat for 2 kids who need to be harnessed :(

So, yeah, grrrrrrr! :p

ETA: Pics of the fraying TF...what do you guys think? They're not the best pics, but those black things on the side are actual bits of harness, not lint balls :p

When I first looked at it I was thinking it was the harness on the right side of the first pic and that there were big chunks missing out of it. Then I looked closer (I have a netbook, so a very small screen and when I click on thumbnails they are the same size as they were) and I realized that it is a black harness and didn't look nearly as bad. Even so, I personally would not use it until LC saw a pic or two and said it is ok to use. I am not a tech, so take my advice with a grain of salt because I may be totally off base, I just know I would not be comfortable with it.

:crying: :crying: :crying:

I'm hooped :( then. I've got a low-tone 6 yo who can be ride in her booster, but only for short drives; a 4 yo who is in no way shape or form ready for a booster at all; and a 2 yo whose rf. If I stop using the TF in question (which I will, having gotten two confirmations now on my gut feeling), I've got one TF and two Monterays to use. I've got a RNXT in the mail, but it won't be here until the 26th.

Aaaauuuuuhggggghhhh!!!!!!

If only I was still uneducated and wasn't having a near heart attack at the thought of DD2 in a booster :(

Sarah, I think it is fine to use. I've seen similar on the Radian and it wasn't a concern to me. I'd keep using it without worry until LC gets back to you.

It is fine for the time being but obviously needs to be replaced... I talked to Britax about this and was informed twice that a harness has to be almost halfway "gone" for it to be a real danger.

Phewf...thank you Trudy. Still not completely sure I'm comfortable using it, but it seems to be the lesser of the evils right now.

And Disney  I can't image using a harness that was 1/2 way gone!
