Anyone have one? We looked at a 2009 today and we really love it! How are the car seat installs? Do subarus do well for longevity? We would like to keep it for quite a few years since it will be our first new car. I did like that it had 3 top tethers. The middle seat belt canbe detached and retracted back into the roof when not in use, I thought that was interesting. I would appreciate anyones personal experience/opinions

I have a 2010 and  it! Car seat installs for me have been a breeze. I like that you just un-velcro the cover over the latch connectors and voila - there they are - they aren't hidden in the seat cushion!

I have installed the following seats rear facing: Boulevard, Marathon, Safe Seat 1, Complete Air, Radian 80 and Symphony 65 - all were easy to install. I did have to struggle with the CA a bit though - but I think thats true with any car. I have also had a Nautilus installed and it too was very easy. I will mention that the owners manual is very specific about the use of car seats in the center - I will have to look at the wording again, but they pretty much say not to.

On other notes, I get great gas mileage, its quiet and drives and handles like a dream. There is plenty of cargo room in the rear, and since the new body came out in 2009 there is more passenger room as well. Reliability on the Foresters (and Subaru in general) is very very very good. And they have a 5 star safety rating as well.

All LATCH-equipped cars* have three top tethers: two sets of lower anchors and three top tethers are mandatory. Don't let that sway your decision.

* except cars with only two back seating positions
