Oh man, now with two kids I haven't got three seatbelts for cats! So someone will have to go in the trunk. Though I may be able to get away with two carriers now, as one of my kitties died 11 days ago. :( So the one who gets carsick may ride with someone else. They'd top the 15 pound max weight easily, though. By seven pounds.

Normally I run the seatbelt through the handles and lock it. It won't hold, but it's the best I have.

I'd get one carrier... large enough for both kitties... and then keep one small carrier for when you only tote one of them.

My cats are 11.5, 9, and 8 (and the one who died was 11.5). I've got carriers up the wazoo. :) Two shoulder carriers (I stuffed two in each last year to move them cross country so they could come in the cabin on the planes with us), two big plastic carriers, and I think another. It's not the carrier situation, it's the seatbelts and the fact that one gets carsick and does better when he's with someone. It used to be he and Custard (she's the one who passed) would go in a big crate, then I'd put Smudge and Max, who each get very grumpy in the car, in their own crates.

I guess Fin and Smudge will go on the front seat now in a big crate and Max will go in a small one between the kids. Or they'll each go in their own and someone will go in the trunk and just be compartmentalized or bungee corded down (not the best, but again, the best I have).

Just to throw this out there in case people are considering things for their pets. We have a fidorido (fidorido.com) and it is awesome. It isn't a carrier though only a carseat.
