Finally I feel a little better

So after 2yrs of struggling I finally got my niece into a safe seat :)

A very short back story, I got SIL brand new 5 pt infant seat (she asked for pink she got it) well she ended up liking a tan 3pt used one from an unknown previous owner better and used that. *sigh*
I offered a true fit or EFTA to RF her in after that, nope they want to see her face....at 7.5 months old...in a used, unknown previous owner rear adjust cargo (expires this december) *double sigh* Twisty loose straps galore.

Well they came up to visit today and she was 37 lbs last week so I used the opportunity to offer my EFTA to them for free if they give me the cargo. I also said when she reaches the top harness height or the weight limit I will take the seat back and get them a new one. No problem they said! *woot*

I taught them how to use it, how to install it, how to use the TT (dont have an anchor in their car but it was a rental and they are getting a new car in the next 2 months), about where the straps should be at how tight etc.
They do get their seats checked but by a non cpst firefighter that refuses to teach them, only show them *eyeroll* so I showed them and made sure they could do it too, then told them id try and find a cpst by them.

It was so nice to see her in a properly installed and used car seat for the first time in her life, absolutely wonderful and totally worth the 90 bucks I was gonna sell the EFTA for.

This is the offending seat, I have always wanted to play with a cargo but had absolutely no reason to ever buy one so hey win-win.
I used to cry about how ridiculously unsafe she was and I have no job, I have no way of helping and they didnt want to rf. Today though they asked me to put the EFTA in rfing!!!!! I was like well now shes over the weight limit. If she wasnt so close to 40 id sell the EFTA and buy them a myride but shed need a radian and neither of us have that kind of money.

Congratulations :)

It's great to work and work and work on a family and finally get them to come around. Makes ya feel like all of that worry was worth it. :)

Maybe they'll ERF the next one, if there is a next one, since they asked about it now.

It does feel good!
No next one though, SIL had her tubes tied (many losses and just wanted to be happy and no worries with this one little one) and my brother has 2 older kids (14 and 17) but I was blown away when they wanted me to put it in RFing, when I offered to buy a seat before the ONLY thing out of their mouth was "ffing seat right?!?!?!" lolol

I wish I could get a radian but who knows whats in the future for me, I should be getting a job soon and Ill just be saving for a nice new car with no other bills.
