Is the Radian Travel bag any good?

My car seat travel bag bit the dust on our last trip. I now have a Radian and it was swimming in that large cover that I had for our now sold Blvd. Should I get the Radian one now or another one?

I would try it out if you can to see if you like it. The seat seems to need to go in just so in order to zip it up, and I had a hard time making the RF foot fit int here. I know a lot of people use it and have had no problems, apparently, but on mine, the straps, or at least one, started ripping out where it was sewn on the first time I tried to use it to test it out at home. I wasn't very happy but others may have had a better experience.

I'd get the backpack straps for the Radian. We've had both and the straps are nicely padded and easier to use than the backpack. The backpack had annoying straps, and the bag ripped quickly. Plus it's nice to just unbuckle the seat from the airplane and put it on the back, rather than stuffing it into a bag (and using a bag to check a seat is not recommended when there's a child to use the seat on board).

Thanks. I will look into the straps. Sounds like the bag is not that great. I sometimes travel with both kids by myself though and only take 1 car seat with me to the plane and check the Radian, so I want to protect the car seat when that happens. I use the CARES harness for the toddler.

Same here...the bag seems like a great idea, but ours tore the very first time we used it too. The shoulder straps started tearing off the bag....the seat's pretty heavy and I just think the bag isn't manufactured well enough to hold it....

No bag will protect a seat from baggage handlers, unfortunately. Nor is the Radian bag padded.

What Wendy said. We have the 2 carry straps (actually, we have 4 - a set for each radian) and they're fantastic. I leave them on all the time - they don't interfere with the installation at all, and then they won't get lost. It was SO NICE to carry the Radian through the airport (I toted it myself, and am no way strong or tall), install it for the flight, and strap it back on my back to deplane and go through baggage. The carry straps are invaluable, IMO.

Another  on the bag for me, and  for the shoulder straps to carry the Radian backpack style. We got the bag originally planning to use it to schlep the Radian through the airports for our first flight with kids a few years ago (not to check it, but to carry the Radian and to use it on board the plane). The bag was disappointingly thin and flimsy that I didn't see how it would survive its intended purpose for even part of a trip, and we never did use it. We took our spare Scenera instead, actually, in the see-through zippered plastic bag it's sold in.

We had bad luck with the old bag but it has been redesigned to be more sturdy and more accommodating. I do think the new one is better... but the straps work well too.
