Wow I love the seat made from "odd bits of wood and strap iron"! And what a wonderful tip for gluing rubber balls on protruding knobs. I might use that one myself ;). Thanks for sharing!

I love the rubber ball for bumps on the head in case of sudden stops

My MIL fastened some type of harness thing from denium fabric for her sons (my husband is the youngest born in 64') so they "Wouldn't roll around in the backseat." I have to give her props for putting the kids in the back and not having them ride up front, but had to draw the line when she offered to make me one when I was pregnant with Madeline.

My dad remembers seeing younger cousins transported in a laundry basket behind the driver. He also remembers lying on the back dash for road trips.

Yeah, she is a member (just not around so much lately). It's totally cool you found her site!
That rubber ball thing is pretty funny, fortunately they realized they could make buttons and dials much less protruding to cause less injury, that's why front panels are pretty smooth nowadays. Oh dear about that car belt. Yikes. Better than nothing (???).

Those are cool!

My brother is 70. I've been told that when he was around 2, my grandpa hit the brakes and my brother fell off the seat so grandpa rigged up something similar to that strap and belt thing for him way back then!
