Britax replacement question

I know it is dependent on who answers the phone at Britax... but, I'd love to hear of experiences with the customer service.

I checked a seat yesterday and the base on the 2007 Roundabout would not lock in either the upright or reclined position. Besides that, the child was dead even with the top harness slots too.

Obviously, and per Britax too, it can not be used with a broken base and the entire seat needs to be replaced (base is not a spare part and can not be fixed).

I called just for my own info on their product & policy and was told it was dependent on the info from the actual consumer but they may honor a trade-in or $125 exchange seat offer or some other agreed upon 'fix'.

NOW, is the $125 Britax seat that can be purchased... can it be any Britax seat or does it have to be Roundabout for Roundabout???

Anyone been pleasantly surprised with a complete replacement seat?

I know someone who had problems with an out of warranty roundabout. Something was broke that couldn't be replaced. They were able to get any seat for $100 (it was a few years ago). So they got a Frontier for the $100.

I've personally had good experience with Britax. I had a problem with a DC, they replaced it with a BV which had issues so it was replaced with a MA. It was all within a few months of the original purchase.

Just so you know-if you ask, they will normally send you the new seat before you send back your old one. They just hold a credit card # in case you never sent your old seat in.

I had a similar situation a few months ago when I was switching one of my 2007 Marathons from rear-facing to forward-facing. The seat had been used rear-facing only for over two years at that point. The base would lock only in the recline position, but not the upright position. The customer service person had me flip the seat over so the base was up and try again. It didn't help -- it would still only lock in the one position. They offered me the $125 deal too. In my case I would've wanted a replacement Marathon anyhow (due to the 35 vs. 33 lb. rear-facing limit), so I didn't ask whether I could've chosen a different model. One thing to note: the $125 offer was only valid for 30 days after the call. They already had my customer information, so it wasn't like I could call back hoping a different rep would offer an outright replacement.

After the call, I spent some more time fiddling with the base and the handle that you squeeze to switch positions, and I *was* eventually able to get it to lock in both positions. I've rechecked the seat several times since then, and it still locks both ways.

I had the same issue w/ my MA and Britax told me it was ok to use even if it wouldn't lock in to position. I did end up doing the replacement option and got a new seat for $100. I really wanted a Frontier but they would only send me another MA, this was last Feb.

I've never had a problem with Britax Customer Service... Now when I stupidly sent back my faulty Old-school parkway and didn't keep the cover (even though of course the new one arrived with its own, different cover)... that was bad... but my own fault

I'm sure they mean any seat.... I mean, for that price, what person in their right mind WOULDN'T say, well then I'd like to get the next bigger seat... IE... if the kid is rf, get a Marathon.. if the kid is ff, get a Frontier... I mean, common sense, right?

My CSR told me that the deal was only in the same "tier". (RA for a RA) (MA, DC or BLVD for a MA, DC or BLVD) (Frontier for Frontier) etc.

You might get a different answer but I was told there was no wiggle room. It was same tier only or nothing. I wanted to trade a malfunctioning DC for a Frontier. No go...
