Mazda and Dodge caravan RF question

Hi! I'm new to this board, and I'm a little overwhelmed by this carseat stuff! We currently have a Mazda, which has the anchors for the carseat: should we be using anything else besides the anchors?

We just bought a 2003 Dodge Caravan which has two captain's chairs and a third row bench seat. We have a Graco Snugride (goes up to 20 lbs) carseat.

Is is better to have my daughter in the captain's chair (which has the anchors) as opposed to the middle of the bench seat? I don't quite understand how to install the carseat on the bench seat (it doesn't have anchors).

Thanks in advance!

What year and make Mazda?

You simply use the seatbelt to install if you haven't got lower anchors.

How old is your Snugride? The last of the 20 pound ones should be expiring this year.

What other kids and seats do you have in your cars?

Thanks for your reply. It's a 2006 Mazda, and we have just the one kid (3 month old). I bought the carseat new October 2009. Right now I just have the hooks attached to the anchors in the seats...if that is even the right word...Should I be using the seat belt as well? Maybe I should go somewhere to have someone help me!

No, never LATCH and the seatbelt.

A 2006 Mazda what?

Where in the Mazda is the seat installed? Graco does not recommend using LATCH in the center if the spacing is more than 11". I might be able to tell you the distance if I know what Mazda.

Your Snugride goes to 22 pounds, not 20.

Getting a technician to check your seats out when you have questions is never a bad idea. Here's a list of techs from this board who are willing to meet with people.
