Softer Cover for Radian XTSL?

Chesapeake

I just opened my much-awaited Radian XTSL box, and was a little disappointed by the fabric (Eclipse). It just seems like it would be kind of scratchy on little legs in the summer...or at the very least be uncomfy and leave imprints on bare legs on long rides. Anyone have any advice? Am I just being overly critical of it, or are there better choices? I knew it wasn't plush and fuzzy, but I thought it would be more like the material on her Marathon (I don't know what style that one is). I picked the Eclipse because it's unisex, in case our son would ever need to use it in the future - and it matches our car! I really like the Flora for her, but is it super girly in person? Is it softer? Do the softer ones get super sweaty? Any suggestions? Am I making the Eclipse seem more scratchy than it really is?? :)

I don't have any experience with the Eclipse fabric, but I have feedback on the "softer" fabrics. I have Nassau on my XT and it has not been an issue at all during the summer. Little people have been very comfortable in it.

I don't think Flora is too "girly." I like it and I am not into the "girly" fabrics AT ALL. :p

I think the softest XTSL covers are Bentley, Flora & Petal. Ventura is more like upholstery (like a couch) & then the mesh ones are, as you discovered, not really soft. I like to have extra covers for my seats, so we have a Nitro & a Flora. DS hasn't ridden in the Nitro yet, though.

I'm assuming based on pictures that it's the same fabric we have on our R80, though I think it goes by a different name. We haven't had any problems at all in terms of the kids being bothered by the scratchiness of the mesh, even in the summer when they are in shorts. One thing that does bug me about it is that the velcro from the padding left the mesh all fuzzy once we pulled them out. Also, when the kids eat in the car (which is VERY rarely) any crumbs get stuck under the mesh....you can see them but you can't get them out. Really annoying. If I were to do it again, I'm not sure I'd go with that fabric, more because of the fuzz and crumbs than the lack of softness.

I've heard the bentley fabric is suppose to be really soft too. I've only had the softer fabrics...

rn 65 - granite, kinda suede.
rn 80- princess, very soft.
rn xt - I've had malibu and nassau, both nice and soft.
rn xtsl - flora, very soft. I saw an eclipse today (that meshy fabric) it wasn't soft but it wasn't really scratchy either, although I'm not a fan of mesh.

I'd go with a microfiber - flora, petal, bentley. Really nice and soft and seem very durable as microfibers often are.
