Will my NB fit in a Marathon? (an answer in pictures)

I had DD's seat in the house for a vehicle swap today and I thought that I would get a few pics of DS in it to see how he would fit. He is 3.5 weeks old and probably a hair over 7lbs at this point maybe 20 inches long. He is smidge under the second slots in the KF30.

Overall impression is that the fit is nowhere near acceptable. The bottom slots are at his ears, the harness wouldn't get tight enough and there is gobs of room at the hips. So no, the average NB would not fit in the MA at birth.

Not that it would actually help the fit, but you could remove the HUGS, and the comfort pads- would the straps tighten a bit more then?

Yep, actually if she removed the HUGS and the comfort pads there would be more slack in the harness.

I have pics around here somewhere of a 10 lber who didn't fit that looked pretty similar.

Here's Laine at three days. I didn't bother tightening the harness. And her torso is on the longer side for her height.
