Compass B540?

Hi all,
Does anyone have the Compass B540 in either camo, pacific blue, or giraffe? I also saw an all dark blue one on one site that looked velour all over but I'm not sure if it's a B540. I'm wondering about the fabrics and which to choose. Are they soft or scratchy?

Also, does it sit up on rails under the seat like the B530 did? I was able to try the B530 and it seems it will work in my car, but I really want the extra depth of the headrest that I've heard the B540 has. I need the rails underneath because I have skinny bucket seats and a weird seatbelt set up.

Last question, I know it doesn't recline. Are your kids able to nap in it without their head falling forward?

Thanks!

What is the age and size of the child you're considering it for? The Compass tends not fit many-to-most kids well. It allows the belt to rise too far on the abdomen, creating a dangerous belt fit in an accident.

Thanks for your reply! I have 2 boys:
DS #1 is 42 lbs/ 44 inches and 5.5 years old
DS #2 is 44 lbs / 46 inches and 6.5 years old

I've had a problem with my seatbelts in my '09 Saturn Outlook. I have captains chairs on the 2nd row and they are slim, bucketed seats with a rigid seatbelt stalk that sticks out from about 2" inside the edge of the seat rather than from the outside of the seat like most cars. Anyway, it makes for a very tiny area to put a booster. My boys have Britax Marathons and I discovered they expire this month plus my older one is really pushing it's height limits.

I tried SK Monterey's but they just wouldn't work, too wide. Sending them back. Now I have 2 Britax Parkway SG's that I'm trying today for the first time. They sit slightly off center but I think it's okay, seatbelts fit the boys okay, still hard to buckle though but might be managable. They just don't seem very cushy. We travel a lot. They still may work out.

So anyway, if I can't live with these it seems the B540 may work b/c of the rails underneath. I tried the B530 in my car at Buy Buy Baby and it works with my seatbelt situation but would prefer the B540 b/c of the bigger head wings. I have heard the series isn't great for skinnier kids. Mine are just a little skinny. I tried them in the B530 and it does seem roomier but seemed to be okay.

And that's my story. :)

My guess is with children your boys' size, the lapbelt fit won't be acceptable, not even close.

If you don't care for the Parkway, what about the Recaro Vivo, or Graco Turbobooster?

The Compass base is quite wide.

Could you possibly post a few photographs? My other thought is that the Clek Oobr might work for you?

Ok, thanks for the advice. I've got the parkway's in and I am going to fit them to the boys in the car today and see if we can get ourselves buckled without smashing our hands. I ended up getting them because the bottom isn't really square but thins out a little at the back end creating a little extra room for my seatbelt stalk.

If this is a failure then I'll dig around for the measurements of the Vivo and see if it will work. And I'll try to post some pics too.

Thanks again!
