Saturn TA question.

Would a 1999 Saturn SL2 have TAs? If not what about a place to have one retrofitted? Would GM do this for free or would there be a charge? I am trying to help out a friend. I've never looked in her husband's car. I know that it doesn't have lower anchors.

Is the SL2 the sedan? It does not have anchors installed, but there are predrilled holes covered by plastic plugs in the rear filler panel, for the outboard positions. The anchor hardware is part # 21048101.

Not sure. I think it is a four door car, but not 100% sure. I think I've seen it in the garage once.

Yup, previous posters remembered correctly - the OP's friend's '99 SL2 is a Saturn compact 4-door sedan, the SC is a coupe, and the SW is the wagon model. The compact Saturn S-series used the following model designations:

SL/SL1/SL2 = 4-door sedan
SC/SC1/SC2 = 2-door coupe or 3-door coupe with the third rear hinged half door on the driver's side
SW1/SW2 = 4-door station wagon

Former multiple Saturn owner here having a Saturn geek moment as we owned all three S-series body styles over time, mostly pre-kids. ;)

Back to the tether anchor retrofit in the SL2, just wanted to add the specific GM service bulletin number for the OP's friend that will cover one tether anchor retrofit free of charge in the U.S. for Saturn owners of retrofittable Saturn S-series models: 99-09-40-004a
Saturn dealerships are supposed to honor GM's retrofit policy, as are GM dealerships who are supposed to continue to provide service for Saturn owners after Saturn dealerships sadly close down.
