There's a girl in DD's preschool class (mostly 3's - this girl is 3.5). A couple weeks ago a bunch of us parents and kiddos were playing outside after class, and the dad came to pick up the girl, and basically threw her in the back seat - no carseat or booster present AT ALL in car, didn't buckle her, nothing. That's annoying, but whatever. I thought, well, not sticking my nose in, Dad doesn't usually pick up or drop off, so maybe he's totally clueless.
This morning, as I'm leaving, Mom and little girl drive up. Little girl in the FRONT SEAT, with her giantpuffycoat and Dora backpack on, no seat belt, no booster or otherwise vacated seat in the back, NOTHING. gah.
Here's where the gray area comes in - I don't talk to this mom, EVER. DD and her daughter don't get along in class (they're both very type-A, and butt heads a lot). We (meaning myself, preschool staff, and the nice policeman) are 95% certain it was Little Girl's dad who stole my breastpump from my car last month (if you remember that drama). So I'm inclined to just ignore it.
But if anything did happen to that kid, I would feel terrible. I mean, it's not her fault that her parents are (allegedly) crappy.
