IIRC - what does it mean?

So I was trying to figure out what IIRC meant and I found several definitions when I googled it. Just following my gut instinct I'm sure that it has to mean International Interdisciplinary Research Colloquium ;) :p

Acronym Definition
IIRC If I Recall/Remember Correctly
IIRC If I Read Correctly
IIRC If I Really Cared
IIRC If It Really Counts
IIRC Image and Identity Research Collective
IIRC Immunity and Infection Research Centre
IIRC Impedance Imaging Research Center (Korea)
IIRC Inactive Item Review Code (US DoD)
IIRC Information Integrity Research Centre (UK)
IIRC Interactive Illinois Report Card
IIRC International Inter-Society Research Committee (on Nuclear Codes and Standards)
IIRC International Interdisciplinary Research Colloquium
IIRC International Internet Recruiting Consultants, Inc.
IIRC International Interpretation Resource Center
IIRC Internet Information Research Center
IIRC Interstate Insurance Receivership Compact
IIRC Investor Responsibility Research Center
IIRC Iraqi Islamic Reconciliation Conference
IIRC Isn't It Really Cool

LOL! I use it almost exclusively for the first definition, occasionally for the second, but only if it's obvious that's what it would mean. If that makes sense...

There are some that still confuse me too.

I'd appreciate a link to a "glossary of terms." My students use IM-speech to communicate with each other and I often don't know what they are saying! :)

I just googled IIRC and it came up with a bunch of sites, about halfway down the list there was a dictionary link, surprisingly it wasn't Wikepedia, lol. You could also post the ones that you are wondering about here (of course you would have to supply us with your interpetation before someone would tell you what it really was). One I learned the other day that doesn't apply to Rylan but would probably be really useful to parents of teenagers is POS - parent over shoulder.

Patriot you should ask your students what they mean and then see if they match up with the definition you have. I would imagine there is a double-code for things so that they don't have to tell a parent what POS really means.

Hey Guys!! Remember I created those articles regarding "Common Abbreviations". I got tired of looking up abbreviations I saw frequently here on the Forum so I compiled a list to refer to. If you go to the Forum of "News, Press Releases and Media", you will see a sub-forum called "Safety Articles". There you will see two articles regarding common abbreviations. Here are the links also:

If you can think of anymore to add to these lists please PM(Private Message LOL) me!
