I am wondering the same thing....I have purchased an item from another user but would also like to post a "Want to buy" and found that I am unable to post. I understand that you have to have reputation points but how do you receive those? I am assuming that you have to be a member for one year, 50 points AND 100 posts then? Haha I guess I should have created a user name sooner rather than just floating around and reading posts...

Reputation comes from your fellow users. When you post something pretty darn amazing, they'll come along and click on the little balance scales at the bottom of your post. Ta-da. Reputation. The more you post, the more likely you'll post something worthy of reputation. Also--recognizing your fellow users' contributions also lends itself to receiving reciprocal reputation in future.
