coccoro question

I always kind of ignored this seat, since it only goes to 40 lbs and is short, we just went with radians in our passat. But yesterday I noticed a coccoro on a stroller thing, and looked it up and was shocked that they actually can be used on strollers, This option would be so perfect for me on days I have to take the train into the city, since once in a while a cab ride is involved..

So what is the deal? what stroller do they fit? is the seat worth it? at least for Nolan who is 17 months and 20 lbs and 31 inches?

I would definitely suggest finding one in-person near you and trying your child in it. I typically don't recommend the seat for any child older than an infant, because it simply won't last as long rear-facing as most other seats out there. RF, it will last about as long as a Roundabout. It will get most kids to 2, maybe longer, but I wouldn't bank on it.

At 17 months old, your kid could have a ton of time in it or not much at all.

If you're looking at it as a short-term solution, or if you don't plan on rear-facing past two-ish, it would be great.

You can find the seat online for about $170, and like the PP said, the stroller is about $80. I have two of the seats, but no stroller (yet), so I can't comment on that aspect, but it looks awesome.

Oh, as for installation, if you do a search, you'll find some threads.

*I* find it to be extremely easy to install and use. Some people have had problems installing it. There are a few different methods for installing RF, and while I think it's very straightforward, it's also very different than how most seats install.

Some people have found the seat "too easy to rebound" in their cars. I've never had that problem, so I can't really speak to it. What do you drive?

Sorry for the serial posts , but I just remembered one more thing. The stroller can only be used to the RF weight limit of the seat (33 lbs). Just wanted to throw that out there.

If you are a person who RARELY takes the infant carseat out of the car (and therefore is happy using a convertible from birth), but wants a "travel-system-type stroller" to use from time to time, this might be a good way to go. :) Hmmm... this makes me think...

It's a great seat as long as it isn't the only convertible you are planning to buy. I love it in tight spaces in my van and for a three across but I bought it as a "it works great for my situation right now" seat knowing that I will use other seats to keep my kids RF longer. I would also never use it FF as a child that can fit in it FF can still be RF in other seats (my 4.5 year old is right at the height limit for FF in the Coccoro FF but still has lots of room to grow weight/heightwise in a Radian XT/XTSL).

It's a perfect travel seat for a child who has outgrown a bucket but is still RF.

So I love it - but don't often recommend it unless I know I am recommending it to someone who knows it isn't the only convertible they will need to buy.
