This doesn't really apply to me, but I was reading the manual for this EFTA and it has a warning that confuses me.
It reads:
"The top tether strap MUST be used if your vehicle has a plain lap belt that only locks during a sudden stop or crash (emergency locking retractors) AND/OR if your vehicle has seat belts whose buckles extend from a slot in the vehicle seat cushion in front of the crease where the seat and back cushions meet. Otherwise the child restraint cannot be installed tightly, increasing the risk of injury to your child. Check your vehicle owner's manual to see if your vehicle has emergency locking retractors."
Is that saying that you can install with an ELR-only lapbelt so long as you use the tether? I was under the impression that an ELR-only lapbelt would need a BSC? If that's the case, does the BSC guideline override Evenflo's guideline? Or -- are they saying you need to use the tether on any ELR belt (ie, on a lap-shoulder with free sliding latchplate & locking clip?)
This isn't addressed in the FF installation with seat belt section, and it's not wording that I recall from other manuals, although it's possible I ignored it since it never applied to me.
(Note: I don't have an ELR lapbelt, nor am I planning to attempt a BSC, this is a matter of curiousity only.)
