6 mo and 23 lbs

My son is 6 mo and 23.4 lbs already. We have a chicco 30 lb infant seat, but I'm worrying about what I am going to need to get for when he outgrows it. (Was tiny at birth but has caught up). He's also been fitted with a helmet for flat head (from torticollis) but has great muscle tone, just a bit square.
What convertible seats are recommended? I drive a subaru outback if that is a concern. I don't want to just pick a pretty pattern. Thank you-

Most likely, your son will slow down in weight growth as soon as he starts moving more (walking it was for my son)

But just in case, you might want to look at a My Ride, A Complete Air, or a Radian (see if you can find them in your cars to make sure you can install tightly/they fit). For higher rear-facing weight limits.

I want to second the idea that you don't need to freak out about having a huge child. My DS1 was heavy like that at 6 months and is not barely at 30#s and is 3 years old. He was 2" from outgrowing his Roundabout RFing for over a year! MY #3 was smaller at birth, much larger (24#s at 6 months) and is now only a pound heavier at 10 months.

Remember also that torso length/height is a consideration when RFing - there needs to be an 1 - 1.5" above the head when RFing.

Does the helmet have a top or is it a rigid headband, open on top? The concern being that the additional height might mean the KeyFit is outgrown by height even sooner.

I don't have personal experience but Subaru has a rep on here for being a more challenging install. I'm sure someone will chime in with more info on this.
