Question Complete Air RFing limits

I thought I heard/read that they had stated you could use the seat until the child's head was *at* the top of the shell, now I am second guessing myself.

Is it 40", one inch of hard shell or the head *at* the top of the shell?

Thank you in advance!

Head at the top of the headrest, which extends above the shell:

The manual says top of the headrest and also 40". Most of us are comfortable ignoring general height limits, which are usually in the ballpark. However, the tremendous disparity between the stated limit and the realistic limit, coupled with Dorel's insistance that 40" be followed (though, really, what else would they say?), make some of us question going beyond 40" in this case.

I'd be comfortable going beyond the 40" but not to the top of the headrest. I'd be sticking to 1-2"

but then given the height on that seat by 43" 40lbs DS still has plenty of inchs above his head and he's reached the weight limit, so I don't know how feasible it would be for any kid to make to outgrow it in height.

I really think we need to get a definitive answer from Dorel. I've seen a post stating that the CS told her that it was fine to ignore the 40", that the headrest is the important part.

And I agree this seat will be outgrown by weight first. My 7 year old still fits FF by height, but at 62 lbs he has well outgrown it.

I tried calling them earlier to see what they say - but they were at lunch.

I'll try again later - but then just because one CS says one thing another may say something different. We really need a more concrete answer.

I'm certainly not comfortable with the idea of recommending people use it too the top of the headrest.

I am. That's what's written in the manual, so Dorel must stand behind it.

And I agree on the outgrowing by weight. Piper was 42 pounds and 45" at her seven year appointment and still had 1.5" above her head.

Exactly. Almost no kid will make it to the top of the headrest before hitting 40. My eldest is almost at 40 lbs.; she has at least an inch and a half of HARD SHELL over her head, the headrest still has oodles to go before she would get to the top of its highest setting.
