Safekids Week?

Not sure where to post this, so I chose here.

I read in another post that safekids week is coming up. Does anyone know when it is? I am putting together the newsletter for my local moms club and would like to include info on this along with links to pertinent information. I only have about a quarter page to put this in, so it needs to be compact.

Any suggestions on how to put it together? I need to have this done by tomorrow, since it is the February newsletter and needs to get out! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hmmm I know it usually is near Valentine's day. Is it the second week of Feb?
Hopefully someone will know. I know the last time I did a search all I found was previous years info. Should be close enough for updated sites I would hope!

February 12-18 is Child Passenger Safety Week, and the special focus for 2006 is on big kids and booster seats

More than 200 state and local Safe Kids coalitions will hold car seat checkups and teach parents the new Safety Belt Fit Test to determine when a growing child is ready to move from a booster seat to adult safety belts.

Visit our CPS Week 2006 Web site for a Parent Toolkit to help educate kids, carpool members and other caregivers about the importance of booster seats.

The deadlines around me for any public announcements are the 15th of the previous month ... in the past it's always flown by me, but this year I tried & they denied it based on length (+ laziness to inform me in time): I've edited & am re-submitting for the March school newsletter -- fingers are crossed the local paper does print, though (they never follow up).

My focus is on keeping young children in the back seat + booster use (since I see way too many unrestrained kindergartners in the front! *UGH*)

So, no news for 2007. All I can find on that site is info for 2006. I guess I will try calling my safekids coordinator.

Anything I should put in the "ad" for cps safety?

Papooses- I don't have a deadline to submit, since I am putting the newsletter together myself. If I did, this would have to wait until next month.

I posted the 2007 link ;) NHTSA is keeping to the same theme: boosters & adding 4 Steps for kids....

Thanks! I was looking at the safekids links that don't have any info on 2007. I am trying to contact our local coordinator to see if RI is participating in NATIONAL SEAT CHECK DAY!!!! Wahoo! There is finally a national day for CPS safety!:D

Off to do more research...

Yeah, I didn't find their planner soon enough (NYS Governor's Traffic Safety Committee needs 1 month notice) to plan a big event & haven't heard about anyone local doing anything  The Sheriff Station usually has radio advertisements -- I'm hoping my church will allow me to use their property since it's downtown (instead of out by the airport like the SS) + I'm hoping local techs will respond ... once I get approval from the church

ME TOO! :(

Thanks for the link to current info; I wonder why the official SafeKids website is so slow to update?

I left a message for our safekids coordinator to see if there is anything even planned for the state. (RI is so small that the local coalition is the state coalition!) When I tried to search safekids usa for events, it doesn't have any events listed through April. We don't see much going on around here by way of events.
