At what age did your child (or the child for whom you care) move to the top slots on the GN?

The title says it all. At what age did your child (or the child for whom you care) move to the top slots on the GN?

If I hadn't got the Frontier, Mya would have moved to the top slots on her Nautilus shortly after 4 years old. She was close to level with the 3rd slots on her 4th birthday.

Okay, thanks. :) I was just trying to figure out how unusual it is that my not-quite-four-year-old DN uses the top slots.

I met a CPST today who told me that the GN should be able to be used as a harnessed seat until the "average" child is seven or so. When I mentioned that my not-quite-four-year-old DN uses the top slots on my GN, the woman said, "That's highly improbable, or at least very unusual."

So, I was just trying to determine if it truly is that unusual.

Uh... 2 years, roughly 8 months.
But we all know that he's the size of a 5 year old.

My nephew moved to the top slots at 3 years old or so...and he was even w/them at about 4 yrs old...that said, he is pretty big and we call him "Torso Man" for a reason (and always have--he was the baby you could put a 3T shirt on w/18 mos pants!). He's about 44" tall and 40+ lbs now.

I think she was right, but yet not thinking it through very well. You have to think that there are TWO INCHES etween the top slot and the next one down. At that age, torso height can be about one inch per year, which means that a child who OUTGROWS the nauti at about age 7, would have moved UP TO the top slots around age 5. So, moving up to the top slots about age 4 isn't all that unsual..a little early, sure, but not that extreme. Plus, we all know that torso height is just so very individual. I mean, how many times have we seen a 38 inch 4 year old who has a longer torso than a 48 inch 7 year old? Yep, we see it all the time.
I do think that the average kid can make it to 7 in the nauti. BUT...that is on a continuum, and some kids are going to outgrow it at 5 or 6, and some are going to fit at 8 or 9. That is probably the 5th-95th percentile there, if I had to ballpark it, with a VERY small number of kids outgrowing it under 5 or over 9.

I think she's right that it's unusual. Bean the First moved to the top slots right after his fifth birthday, and he's 97th percentile in height.

Like my DS who was using the top slots not long after turning 3 but has always been about 55th percentile for height.
ETA: I just went through my pictures and he was on the top slot sometime before he was 3 years & 2 months old.

DS is on the top slots and has been since probably the summer when he had turned 5. I moved him up because he seemed to be really close to needed the top slot but about a month later I looked and it seemed like he was definitely below the point to move up to the top slot. I left it so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

My child is 7, and I thought she still had another slot to go. I'll have to check for sure tomorrow. Maybe I forgot that I moved her up. I know she was in the second from the top when I got the seat for her, at which time she was about 6.

DD1 is tiny, moved to the top slot sometime while she was 7, now still has plenty of room before she outgrows it at 8y2m (I would be shocked if she outgrew it before she was well into being 9 years old)
