Safety 1st Intera Manual or install advice

I'm trying to get three seats across in my Expedition.

Jean 27lbs FF in Britax Blvd
Tristan 37lbs 103cm
Ella 62lbs 124cm

I have either a Safety 1st Intera or an AOE Eddie Bauer for Tristan and Ella to use.

I was wondering if the base of either or both seats can be removed for use as either a five point harness or high back booster? i'm concerned that I won't be able to fit all three across. I'd try it with the bases installed or not but it is 15 degrees outside ;) . I don't have the manual for the Intera, so I really don't want to start taking it apart.

Ella gets dropped off at one place on campus and Jean and Tristan get dropped off at another so I also have to think about traffic flow getting in and out of the car in carpool.

Thanks!

1. How old is Jean?

2. The base can be removed from the Intera, and from the older versions of the AOE. (the newer versions have a non-removeable base).

3. What's the year on the AOE? The newest models have a 50 lb maximum on the harness, but the older versions have an 40 lb maximum (and very low top useable harness position), so Tristan would be about to grow them both in weight, and probably has all ready outgrown the AOE in height.

4. Neither of those seats makes a good booster. How old is Ella? There are much safer choices out there :)

Jean is three. We just turned her FF. I fought with DH and he finally won 2 years later;)

AOE - 06/21/06

These are my seats for Jean. I bought them before I became a car seat nerd. She rides in the BLVD and will move to a Radian or Frontier when she outgrows the BLVD. Tristan and Ella are a friends kids. She has seats for them but I wanted to use mine for as long as possible so I didn't have to move them if she needed them. Ella is 6 I think.

I'll probably try Ella in the AOE (it seems safer on the outboard because it's one piece and more comfy because of the arm rests) and Tristan in the Intera (it's so flimsy I can't believe I let my mom buy it for her car).

So it will go behind driver Ella, then Tristan, then Jean. I have the AOE set up as a belt positioning booster now since I have the manual for it. Can just take the base off the Intera and use it as a FF five point harness seat for Tristan?

I would STRONGLY advise a different booster for the 6 year old. The AOE does not create a safe belt fit in booster mode. The lap belt lies much too high, and the shoulder belt doesn't lie correctly at all.

You can remove the base on the Intera to use as a harnessed seat if you prefer :)

I plan to see what seats my friend has for the kids also. I have a feeling they are cheap high back boosters.

Does the seat belt hit different children differently in the AOE?

Theoretically, any booster might fit any child differently.

Practically speaking, the AOE (and all its clones) creates a terrible belt fit on 100% of children of all ages and sizes. I have NEVER seen the AOE create anything even coming close to a safe belt fit, on any child.
