Does the Apex 65 get hot and sticky?

I just received our Apex 65 from albeebaby.com (on sale!), and I was so fixated on weights and heights and harnesses that I didn't realize it is not a fabric seat. I think it's nylon.

Does this seat make your child hot and sweaty in the summer? Is there anything I can do about it? I'm assuming putting a towel behind DS is a no-no.

OK, I gotta bump this now, esp since I found out the Radian won't work in my 04 Sienna. :(

Alternately, is there another convertible (to booster) that harnesses past 40 and has a bona fide fabric seat?

You could try the Safeguard Childseat (65lbs) but it's expensive. I don't have the Apex 65 but I believe it's a synthetic fabric, but not really nylon-like. There are a couple of other models of the Apex 65 that seem to have softer fabric: the Eddie Bauer version and the Safety 1st Signature - Biltmore...

I'm pretty sure the eddie bauer version is fabric, but I had my apex in august and had no problems with it being extra sweaty. Its the same fabric that's on my avatar and I don't have problems with it either. Maybe you're just used to the more velour fabrics?
