a good age and size to make a turbo backless? opinions!

I replaced my turbobooster yesterday from the minor accident.. I had a perfectly fine spare back for a turbo at home (graco replaced my old turbos back for me but I had not put the new set on the old booster yet when we crashed it) so I just got a backless and am putting the good back on it with the old cover so it matches lol.

Anyways when getting it ready Julianna who is 7 and a half, was asking when we can take the back off so she can just ride in the bottom part.

I thought a minute and said, well maybe when you are 9, she goes "how about 8" I was like, "I am not sure we will have to look into it" so here I am asking what you all think

Julianna is 65 lbs, and really tall for her age, I forget her exact height, I will measure her in a minute.. but she is 80th percentile for height on the charts at least when I took her in 6 months ago.

Do you think 8 is an ok age? maybe if so we can compromise and say 8.5 lol

lmk what you guys think!

When the child is too tall for the back ;)

Ideally I'd like to see kids be at least 8 before going backless, but if they still fit in the back I'd leave it on.

Is this the child you recently wanted to reharness because she was too wiggly for a booster?

Ideally, a child would stay in a HBB until the back is outgrown. Practically, I don't twitch over an 8-9yo in a backless for comfort/convenience/preference *if* that child consistently demonstrates good booster behavior.

yea when she first went to a booster she was wiggly.. and I was concerned and locked her seatbelt for a while, she sits fine now.

I should clear up, I have no intentions of making it a backless anytime soon, I was planing for age 9 or somewhere after that originally but she started asking me today and I wanted to know if 8.5 was a reasonable option to discuss with her.

I would tell her you'll discuss it when she's 8.5 (and make sure she knows what discuss means ;)). At that time, you can re-assess whether you thinks she's ready for a backless, and tell her if she continues to sit well in her booster she can move to a backless at age 9 (for instance). I'd hesitate to say now that "you can move to a backless at (specific age)" because it's hard to predict whether she'll be ready then, and you don't want to have to go back on your word.

ideally when the back is outgrown. however i think 8 is OK if you think she is ready. but instead of promising it i think saying i'll think about it & we'll discuss it when you are 8yo is a good way to put it off. so maybe when she is 8 you can make a compromise for 8.5yo.
