I'm looking for seat suggestions for my nephew. He's 5 months old and just under 30lbs and is 30 inches. Definately a big boy. I've tried him in my girls boulevard and radian's but he looks so squished, lol. Anyone have any recommendations I can pass to my sister. He's needs a new seat asap. He outgrew his snugride pretty quick so I gave her my safeseat and now he's at the limits for that.

If he is 5 months old and already 30lbs you should really re-consider the Radian! If he wasn't so heavy I would say the Trufit because of how wide it is, but with it's 35lb weight limit he wouldn't last long in it!

Oh my yes to looking at the Radian!

BTW I am not a tech, but: To just keep him rear facing to the legal bare, bare minimum, the 12 months, he might NEED the 45 lb RF limit. And since he should RF as long as possible, there 35 & 40 lb RF seats may very well not cut it.

When you say he looked squished, how do you mean? Side to side?

Are you 100% sure that's how big he is? Is that the doctor's measurement, or mom's estimation? The reason I ask is because even a few pounds difference in weight can really change the number of seats that will be appropriate for him.

Did you remove the infant padding in the Boulevard and the Radian? That'll make a big difference in whether he looks squished.

I do not mean to be indelicate, and I apologize -- but is there a reason he is so big? Are there any physical challenges, is his growth expected to stay on that same curve, is he typically proportioned?

:yeahthat:

The 100 percentile weight for that age is about 22 lbs so I would be interested to know if there is a reason they think he is going to continue to grow at that rate. Either way though... I agree that the Radian is probably the only real choice.

He is 29.5 lbs but seems to be slowing down. His measurements are by the doctor and accurate. The dr isnt concerned, says he is proportioned. No physical challenges. I tried the boulevard without infant insert. She tried the Radian, but I wasnt there to see. I think it more of her seeing how narrow the seat is and thinking he'd be uncomfortable. I will let her know about the new radian. Thanks
