Sleeping in a booster?

I am planning a VERY long driving trip later this year. My 7 year old will outgrow her Radian65 long before then. *She's topped 60 lbs now* Is falling asleep 'ok' in the Monterey? It appears that the wings would 'hold the head up' but I'm curious how different seats work for that situation. I had my babysitted 4 year old in a 'straight old fashioned looking' booster that his mother had me use and he was hanging himself TERRIBLY.

Teach her to put her head back as she falls asleep. And if you can, lock the shoulder belt if you know she's going to sleep. But yes, it's fine to sleep in a booster provided they don't slump out of position. A four year old is often the wrong size for a booster, or not able to sit in properly before they fall asleep, so they slump often when they sleep. Especially if you mean by "straight old fashioned booster" a backless.

nah, it had a back, but LORD it was awful. I wasn't happy when I SAW it but it's what his mother gave me and said 'now he can ride in this'. yay

Ooooh, hadn't thought about 'locking' the seat belt for her when it's night. I'll try that with the 4 year old I babysit as well,,, just for regular riding! He apparently was NOT happy with the seat the entire way. My 19 year old was beside him and said he complained the entire way

If it helps, here are pictures of my 9yo sleeping in a Monterey on a verrrry long road trip last Spring. The first picture I'm comfortable with, the second picture I really don't care for that sleeping position, but don't know if it's actually a risk, or just *looks* bad to me:

Just looks bad to you. :) It's actually what we mean by teaching a kid to sleep with their head up.

sleeping in the booster is fine... as long as they are still in position... pretty much what everyone has said.
