Got rear ended on the interstate yesterday!

I was traveling 60mph down the highway when I was suddenly rear ended by a VW Jetta. I never thought it to be possible to be rear ended while going that fast! Her car was totaled. Thank God my family and I were riding in our beastly Toyota Land Cruiser. We were able to drive the car home for the 500 mile trip.

Thanks to this forum, I had just removed the mighty tite belt tightener on my kids car seats JUST 10 DAYS BEFORE this accident! I had been using the mighty tite for approximately 5 years until I saw the posts on here recommending against them. This information may have saved the kids from serious injury. Luckily despite the 5 years of mighty tite, no ill damage was done to my seat belts in the SUV.

I'm glad you found the forum, and I'm glad you and your family are ok (hopefully the other driver is, too).

Make sure replace the car seats (the other driver's insurance company should cover it, but you might have to battle a bit).

Thankfully the other driver is ok too. Seat belts really do save lives. I actually have extra car seats to replace them with, but I will make the insurance company cover their replacement anyway.

So glad you're ok and wow that must have surprised you.

My car was just totaled being rear ended on the freeway and sandwiched between a Dodge Caliber (who hit us) and a Toyota Sequoia (who we were pushed into.) The Sequoia had very little damage to it's bumper so that's why I just bought a CRV to replace my little Corolla.

Glad you are all safe!
