Seats with realistic height/weight limits?

A friend asked me which seats are fairly realistic in their height/weight limits. I know all kids are different, but I'm trying to come up with seats for which the average-proportioned kid might come close to outgrowing by height and weight at the same time. So far I have:

Safety 1st Avenue
Evenflo Triumph Advance
Safety 1st Complete Air
Evenflo Maestro
Radian65 (maybe)
Graco Nautilus
Britax Regent

How on earth did the Evenflo Maestro make it to the list? There is NO way a child is going to get anywhere near the booster limits of that seat! When they outgrow the top harness height they have outgrown it in booster mode.

Most kids won't make it to 80lbs in the Regent either. I think on average most kid have outgrown it in height around 70ish pounds which means it's around 10lbs off.

The ones I've noticed that are right on are these..
Nautilus
Complete air
EFTA
Radian
MyRide
Generations 65
Scenera (most of my kids do make it to 35lbs rf in that seat and do make it to just around 40lbs ff it's just I would prefer them rf and ff longer than what they get out of the seat)

I was really only thinking about harnesses, since that's the topic of a few of my rants to her and what she was asking about.

Do you really think many kids will make it to 65# in the MyRide or Generations65?

What about the RA50? (Not that, you know, I'd really recommend it now with my increased nervousness over the Britax seats FF...)

I agree that it belongs on the list (especially since this isn't as much as list of *recommendations* as it is just a geeky list).

Graco Cargo and Evenflo Chase do too, I think.

I seriously doubt the Gen 65 would last that long. It was a perfect height to get most kids to 40, and the harness is the same, so it's ok for sort of chubbier kids now.
My kid's not terribly tall, and she would have been about at least 2 inches over the Gen top slots at 65 pounds (here she is in the Radian for comparison...she almost made it in the RN, but that is taller than the Gen by an inch or so... http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/BitsyRadian107#)

I think the Maestro definitely will fit most kids to 50...

Safeguard Go lists 52" and 60 pounds for top harness height, that was just about right for my kiddos (but there might be something to seat contours or something, I keep hearing of much smaller kids being too tall for it )

ETA...and the AOE's...they have the same FF weight limit as the CA.

I have the Gen65 and my friends dd's who are about 60ishlbs do fit in it. Perhaps it's a girl thing. I don't have a lot to compare it with at the moment though. My son is 5.5 and has a super long torso but is only 40lbs, my other kids aren't old enough or are too big and I haven't tried it with my foster kids yet. They purchased it for my car because I gave them each my old Radian's so they both went in and got that seat so I could use it for their dd's the once I week I pick one or the other one up from preschool.

For those who wont RF long, the Young Sport seems to get most kids to 40 lbs with room to spare. I know firemoms DD outgrew it by weight before height and so will my DD2. She'll probably hit 40 lbs with 1-2" to spare. Even my youngest should outgrow it by height around 40 lbs but she'll be six or so and tall

I agree about the YoungSport. I personally think the TrueFit should be in the "maybe" category with the Radian65 -- any other opinions?

I was definitely going to say the Maestro in harness mode, since the booster is pointless. (Unless your child needs a harnessed seat for full time use and a booster for field trips and you're on a budget? That's the only use for it I can think of.)

I would say the Scenera possibly too though. My nephew is pretty average sized so I'll use him as an example... RF'ing, he has just under 2 inches of seated height left and 1-2lbs (depending on clothing) before he outgrows it. FF'ing, he has about 2in of torso growth and 6-7lbs, so it would be really close. It looks like he'd outgrow it FF'ing very shortly after max'ing out RF'ing mode though.

I thought the Scenera was about the same size as the Roundabout? Is that wrong?

In my experience they are very similar in size. My 28 month old has been using the Scenera on occasion during this vacation and he is about 1/2 inch under the top slots and, when he was in the Radian a month ago, he was about 1/2 under the top slots as well.

Most kids will probably get to 35 RFing in the Scenera, but most will not get to 40 FFing in it.

They did make the shell a bit taller and the slots a smidge higher a few years back, but still not going to happen for most kids, I don't think.

Definitely the Chase. Both my boys outgrew it weight before height (but only by a 1/2" or so). This weekend I used it with my friend's 38 pound 5 year old and he still had 1/4" left in the harness.
