Has anyone with a 2 door cavalier (older) measured to see if the apex would work?

DS is only 3. He is already 38 lbs, and I do not want him in a booster without a harness. I have a 96 2 door cavalier, and really like the Apex, but have heard about the high seatback thing. How do I know if my seatbacks are high enough?

Anyone try this one out yet? I really can't afford the Britax Marathon's right now, but have been looking at the Fisher Price version of it (can't remember the name right now) as an alternate.

    Thanks.

I'll see if I can explain the head rest requirement better. It's ok if the back of the Apex sticks out over the top of the vehicle seat. What matters is the position of your child's head with respect to the top of the vehicle seat. What you can do is this - sit your child on the vehcile seat and see how far the top of the seat back is above the tips of his ears. Subtract a few inches (5" maybe? it sits pretty low) to account for him sitting higher when he's in the Apex. That should tell you how much he can grow (in seated height) before he's too tall to use the Apex in your car. At 3yo I'm guessing he could get at least a few years out of it, at which point he'll have gained some maturity and you could move him to a dedicated booster that doesn't require head support. Hope that helps.

As for it fitting in your car, I don't know for sure, but it probably would. It fits well in most cars. Provided you don't have super scooped out back seats or some other issue that make car seats in general a challenge I wouldn't be too worried.

Does the top of the vehicle seat include the headrests?

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, but a 96 Cavalier doesn't have headrests in the back.
