Touriva Bad fit

So yea, I just got done monkeying all the seats back in my van for my three. I also had to install (for transport purposes) a touriva. I tried latch FF on it (FF merely so DD could get by it easily since no one will actually be using it as far as I know) No GO at all. Could not get it tight at all. It had like four inches of movement! (In an 01 dodge caravan third row bench outboard) SO I put it in with vehicle belt with no issues. I always like to make sure any transported seat is not just strapped down but installed correctly 100% in case for some odd reason I end up using it and forget it is not in right, so I just do it right away to be on the safe side!

You may have an easier time tightening it if you poke the tail of the LATCH belt back through the ff'ing belt path and up the edge of the cover. I'd also pull the cover back and double check that it's not caught on anything.

One other thing to check, is what slots are usable ff'ing. For many if not all Touriva's, only the top slots are usable ff'ing. I'm not sure if they changed that on the US Touriva's since they haven't been available in Canada for a number of years now, or if that's still the case. You'll be able to tell by looking at the back of the seat. If there is an obvious bar below the top slots and above the 2nd from top slots, then only the top slots can be used ff'ing.

I'm not sure I'd call it a "bad fit" if you could easily install it with seatbelts. Some seats in some cars fit better with LATCH, and some seats in some cars fit better with seatbelts. And some seats just don't fit in some positions in some cars -- which doesn't make them "bad", as you stated in your title, just not the right choice for that car.

It not matter to much for me since It will actually only be used RF in grandma's car, just installed FF for transport to make it easier for DD to get in and out. It has never actually been used FF but once and only on top slots. DS1 just outgrew it by height RF, so DS2 getting for RF in grandmas car and it will expire before he will need it FF ever!
I think it Dec this year or 2011 that it expires.

As you said, you wanted to have it installed properly in case of emergency. That is why the PP pointed out using the top slot only. It sounds like you are on top of things, just make sure you have it on the right slots!
